Turn Hotel Soap In to Pretty, Scented Soap

I had a shoe box full of soap samples from hotels. I liked how the soap worked, but I wanted a nice fragrance to use. I repurposed several bars of soap in to pretty chocolate covered strawberry scented full bars of soap perfect for
Instead of making soap from scratch, you can use premade soap and rebatch it! It's so much easier, and you can have a handmade bar of soap without using lye or buying a lot of ingredients. I started with hotel sample soap, but you could use any soap. I don't recommend using really cheap soap because you won't get good results.
The first step is to grate or cut the soap. Grating gives you a more uniform bar at the end, but I was okay with chopping it up. Using a knife, I got chunks, slivers, and powder.
Next, put the soap in a double boiler and add water or coconut milk. Heat it over medium low heat until it starts to melt. Some soaps will completely melt, but mine didn't, probably because the soap was very dry. I like chunks in my rebatched soap because the color is a little different than usual.
I wanted to make chocolate covered strawberry soap, so I separated the melted soap into two bowls. I added strawberry fragrance oil to one bowl and cocoa powder to the other bowl. The soap was cool by then, so I used my hands to mix it up.
Press the soap firmly in to a soap mold. I filled mine half full with strawberry and topped it with chocolate soap. You can also make it all one scent and just fill the mold.
Let the soap sit so the water evaporates and it hardens. Pop it out of the mold and let it dry for several days on a cookie cooling rack. Enjoy!
