Country Cupboard Goes Glam

Highstyle Restyle
by Highstyle Restyle
My client wanted a fresh new look for this small cabinet where she stored her cookbooks. The tiny knob and outdated pine gave it more of a country feel and she wanted something a little more glamorous.
{BEFORE}
My client gave me full creative discretion as long as I started by painting it black. You can never go wrong with the LBD {Little Black Dress} in the painting world.
Now you see it...
My initial idea was to stain the top darker and only paint the base. Unfortunately, this crack threw a wrench in my plans. Before I could get started on painting, the crack needed to be fixed.
Now you don't!
After filling, sanding and painting, you'd never know there was ever a crack! I love being able to repair and restore furniture!
Perfect finishing touch.
I found the perfect applique to add some interesting detail to the cabinet door. It fit so precisely, it seemed it was made especially for this project. The applique was a rustic iron, so I added some gold and bronze touches to glam it up a bit.

I replaced the tiny knob with one that accented the new applique and a better scale for the piece. Ready and restyled, it's got lots more love and life to give my client.
