Non-wood-burning fireplace

Does anyone know how to convert a wood-burning fireplace into a new style with decorative (I think) flames emanating from a pipe under glass pebbles? I don't know the name of the fuel that's used. There's an existing gas line which I've never used. The house was built in 1955.

I think, bioethanol fireplace. Eco-friendly fuel.

Thank you, Jeanie; I would have it checked out first--I think the bioethanol goes through the same line, but it has to be approved first.
