Preserved Gourd Wreath
by

(IC: blogger)
This wreath was crafted from gourds that I dried, cleaned, and polished with a light wood stain. Every year when I buy colorful gourds to use for decorating, I save them by letting them dry naturally in my basement. The next fall I clean them and have a new set to use.
Preserved gourd wreath
Here you can see the color and texture of the preserved gourds. They are so pretty! I do not throw my gourds into the compost pile. I dry them and then use them for decor for years to come.

Jane@Cottage at the Crossroads on Oct 29, 2012Oh my gosh! I wish I had seen this a few months ago. Every year gourd plants come up in our compost bin (thanks to me throwing some in a few years ago.) I transplant them into our garden, and because they grow too early, they eventually rot way before fall. So now I know to dry them! Your wreath is very pretty and different!
