I'm adding on a screened in porch. What choice of floors are best? Want it bug proof. Ceramic?

Tiles DO sound good, but I was thinking of an indoor/outdoor carpet kind of thing. The porch is sort of a transition from outside to inside. It vacuums well and holds up.

I was a little bit concerned the outdoor carpet would smell musty if it is wet for a few days

I used traditional tongue and groove oak that was outdoor treated like your building materials. It is finished to match the indoor flooring making my porch blend nicely and there is no transition from one room to the porch. Looks great, and is easy to sweep or vacuum.

I had the same outdoor carpeting for years on my screened in porch, it was wonderful. No problems with odor, mold, or anything. I just vacuumed and cleaned it when I needed too. Lots to chose from and cost effective.

Porcelain tile is terrific. Easy to clean, nothing lives in it. Have indoor-outdoor on my deck only because I couldn't afford to tile it.

Our screen porch is wood, we put screen down before the wood, so bugs can't get in .I clean the floor with Bono and use the polish. It looks great and is easy to keep clean.

I have a neutral w/w indoor-outdoor carpet and I put an area carpet around for color. I like the feel of the carpet on bare feet, good for grandchildren that crawl and keeps it cozy to use 3 seasons. I've never had a problem with dampness or bugs. If I lived in a warmer climate I may have painted the plywood (in a design) for a different look and project.

thanks everyone. I chose porcelain. We love it. Hopefully it will hold up through the winter. We did use the grout that is suitable for outside.
