Stenciling on pillows

I would love to learn how to stencil on fabric to sell pillows at my craft sales but no clue how to start. Some of the blogs I see look complicated. Anyone have a simple easy DIY way of doing this?

Simple stencils are easy to use. Just cut them from freezer paper and then fuse to the pillow top. Any Acrylic paint can be made fabric-friendly by adding a fabric medium at a 50/50 ratio. If you wish to make your own pillows first, prewash your pillow fabric without fabric softener, press, iron on freezer paper..waxy side down, then stencil. Leave the stencil in place until dry then just peel off. Use a paper towel or presser sheet to heat set the stencil. Then use the fabric to assemble your pillows. Just google fabric medium and freezer paper for more info.

Thanks Allie...I do a lot of crafts/painting/woodworking and have seen many pillows stenciled or designs painted on them but haven't have the nerve to try yet lol.

You can also use rigid stencils like those used for wallpaper and a stencil brush with artists' tube acrylics. Painters can attest that this paint stays on clothes!
