Lakeview Elementary School project

Backyard Getaway was honored to be chosen to be a part of the Building Bridges with School & Community grant project through Met Life & the John F Kennedy Performing Arts Center. Through this project created by Van Wezel performing arts & Brenda Smoak a local teaching artists, we created a hands on class at both Lakeview Elementary School & their sister school, Oak Park special needs school. The children created a water feature at each school, a meditation garden at Oak Park & next week will work together again to add artistic touches to a bridge that connects the two schools. Here is a photo of the AWG Colorfalls water feature we created with the students

Thank you! We have really enjoyed working with the students at both schools! We have worked with other schools through our the art & nature program that we offer but this is the first time we've worked with two schools at once. Here is a picture of the Oak Park waterfall, it is a bit different. The mosaics were created by the Oak Park students & next week we will be adding landscaping & benches around the waterfall to finish the meditation garden.
