DIY Plywood Magazine File

With it's jumble of painted/unpainted magazine files and coil bound course packs, the fourth row of my Ikea was the last hold out in my pursuit of bookcase orderliness. I wanted to maximize the storage in each cubby for my current (and growing) collection of magazines, so my Handy Hubby and I devised plans for massive magazine files, made out of
Here's the bookcase before:
And now:
I love how everything is hidden! I decided to stain the outsides of the magazines files white, but painted the insides turquoise. No one will ever see the colour but Hubby and I (and you), but it makes me smile.
I'm not going to lie: once they're packed they're a bit heavy, but it's nothing I can't manage. Frankly, I can use the bit of exercise. To protect the Expedit, we added little felt feet:
The tutorial is fairly lengthy (but very straightforward). It could easily be adapted to just a simple bin to corral toys or office supplies. If you're thinking of making something similar, I'm going to direct you to my blog for the full instructions (linked below as well): http://dans-le-townhouse.blogspot.ca/2014/12/diy-plywood-magazine-files.html
But the basic idea was to cut the pieces:
and then glue and clamp them together:

When the glue dried, we sanded the edges, then applied paint and stain. We added some vintage hardware as well. Easy!

@Meagan {The Charming Farmer} Thank you! I love turquoise but I've definitely got a lot of it in my home, so for this project I made it stealthier, lol.

Looks great! I may have to try this soon. My boyfriend has an inventory of car magazines dating back to the 60s that I will have to make room for when we get married. P.s. Your dog looks so sweet! :)
