Rescued & Upholstered Midcentury-style Dining Buffet

We found this piece for $10 at an estate sale last spring. We loved the lines and the size, but its condition was a little worse for wear. We also wanted something a little more versatile that would accommodate some larger serving ware we own.
So we disassembled the piece entirely (which was a bit of a gamble - but we had only spent $10! So it was worth it to try!)
Removing the drawers and replacing them with a new reinforced plywood platform gave us the storage we wanted. Then we painted the outside of the cabinet in Aubusson Blue and the inside in Paris Grey.
We ended up upholstering the rough edges with some thick, black & white checkered fabric and we are so pleased with the results!

Gail Daigh on Jan 29, 2015I don't think the legs look like they go with the piece, as if cheap legs were added at some point.
