Has anyone used Stainless Steel film on appliances?

I see lots of ads for covering kitchen appliances with stainless steel contact paper film. Has anyone tried this? Would you recommend it?

  • Peggy this is an ideal way to improve the look of an outdated appliance that has a lot of life left in it. But there are some tricks to using this material. Stainless steel film is a bit stiffer than contact paper and is a bit harder to apply around edges and corners. So when installing this you must be prepared with all sorts of tools to apply it successfully. Wall paper roller is a must. A really sharp pair of scissors as well. Good sharp knife is needed and an extra set of hands. Be prepared to spend a bit of time if the edges of the fridge or appliance are rounded. This can be sort of difficult to fit. I would suggest if there was to be a seam in the corners that you spray prior to applying a bright silver paint spray just in case the corners are not perfect and the old color can be seen between the gaps. But it does work pretty well. But remember this is simply a faux finish of sorts. Its not the real thing so you need to be careful not to scratch it to much or abuse it.

Yes, I did. When I moved into my new home 2 1/2 years ago I wanted to update the dishwasher which was black. I knew the dishwasher was old and the kitchen would need to be renovated but wanted to wait till it conked out. I bought the film off Ebay, worked great and matched my new stove and refrigerator. My dishwasher finally conked this August and I got a new one. Dishwasher film could not tell the difference unless you looked very closely.

yes, it went on easily. Even my husband was surprised, he thought there would be wrinkles but there weren't and it stayed on. I've seen the fridge ones, makes a world of difference. I've haven't seen it done on a stove.
