Golden mophead bushes?

I have 5 Golden Mophead-like bushes in my back yard but they are mostly green. The landscaper told me they do not get enough sun to turn golden. The nursery was out of stock on the Golden Mophead bushes so sold these to me, saying they would turn gold. They do get quite a bit of sun during the day so it seems they should be gold!! Is there something I could add to the clay soil here in Georgia to make them turn more gold??

They are either Gold mophead or not.If the nursery didn't have golden potheads and sold you something else, then nothing will turn them gold. if the landscaper thinks they need more sun and you think they get at least 6 hours then you probably don't have gold potheads. Sorry.

The nursery assured me they were related to the golden mopheads & the tags even said they had the gold look to them....I will have to find the tags. They also look identical in shape and draping as the others do. Several people have them in my neighborhood and they look like that but they are just green! I will have to attach a pic soon. Thanks!

Susan is correct. The true "Gold Mops" is Charmaecyparis pisifera filifera ‘Mops.’ The amount of light controls how "golden" this plant becomes. I'm afraid is not something you can change with a soil amendment.
