Chalk Fire
Faux mantles are great! You can move them room to room, take them with you when you move, or have a focal point in a rental. I made a faux mantle for our bedroom that I scaled to fit an old room heater. Now I found another way to add fire...check out the "fire". Update: added color and more!

It reminds me of a firescreen I decorated for my grandparents as a child. I used black card with some triangular flame shapes in yellow, orange and red, and then over the top put a paper cut-out I made and personalized for them.
