I used a product called "Refresh" for the cabinets in our house. When we moved in I swear those cabinets had never been cleaned. I needed something strong, and this product worked. Some areas I had to do twice, but it eventually got all the "gook" off and left a nice sheen on the cabinets.

I used Dawn. Plain Dawn do not dilute with water and a Mr. Clean sponge. It hardly took any effort on mine.
  • Use greased lighting or some other degreaser. This should not harm the finish but try a spot on the inside of the door first. You can also try Murphy's Soap Oil. I clean my kitchen cabinets with this on a regular basis. Let me know how they turned out. You can find me on Pinterest "Creative Interiors by Connie" and click on my board "Cleaning & Household Tips" You may find something interesting. Thanks

If you have oak cabinets, dont forget to oil them down. They will dry out.

I know a person who owned rental properties. He told me to use WD40. Spray it on, let it sit a few minutes, wipe it off.

We clean Apartment complexes, houses that have heavy grease build up. We buy a non aerosol commercial degreaser - oven cleaner, we purchase it at Sam's in a three pack. You will need gloves and spray it on the rag then wipe off. It will take years of grease build up off cabinets and anything else. It is not natural it is for the very worst cases...but I can tell you we go into homes that haven't been cleaned for years. And we can take the grease off anything.

I read somewhere that to get grease off cabinets use the thing that got them that way to start with. Use plain oil, vegetable oil,and a clean cloth and watch it disappear.I figured there was no way this would work, so I tried it. AMAZING! My cabinets have never been cleaner and with hardly any work at all.It just melts the grease away and leaves the cabinets shiny and so clean. I wish I knew where I read this. I would thank them from the bottom of my heart!

I am afraid to use harsh chemicals as the cupboards are very nice and stained a light walnut. The finger prints just don't seem to come off as they are greasy or ?
  • We use Murphy's oil soap and warm water. Works like a charm. We use this for lots of cleaning where the wood finish needs to be protected.

Try Liquid Gold. It's always been the best thing for me, plus it reconditions the wood at the same time. Sometimes during major cleaning, I just left it on, didn't wipe it off. But that was after the original cleaning.
