New life for juice container

I am just starting to work with furniturewith painting, staining, mixing of colors. My thought is to reuse container with chalk paint, leftover mixed paint, for easy viewing and reuse of leftover paint, what do you think?

Works great, I do it all the time...I buy 5 gal. of white paint & mix my own colors...then store them in my many empty kitty litter containers..soooo much easier to carry around a gal of paint, and so easy to pour & shake...I hate leaving paint in a half empty can !!!!

Fantastic. I use coffee creamer jars for flower seeds for my meadow. Good storage for paints to.

I use glass jars from jelly, spaghetti sauce, etc. after I've eaten the food and washed the jars. I use some plastic jelly jars, also. I store all my leftover paints in these and label them with the colors because paint cans always end up rusting around the lid and when I take the lid off, little pieces of rust fall into the paint. It drives me crazy! I've also used a lot of baby food jars when I have just a little paint left over; this way the small amount won't dry up in the big jars that have just a small amount of paint and a lot of air.

I was told by an elder who spent his life painting and returning for touchups to long term clients that he always turned the paint container upside down after it had been opened for the first time to prevent the 'skin' from forming. This has never failed me. One container was a 5 yr gap between uses.

I used a bottle exactly like this to store some left over custom-mixed paint That was about 8 years ago......it's still fine :-)

I use glass coffee jars with screw on lids for anything like Mineral turpentine and methylated spirits that I need to wash brushes in. Not all paints wash out with water. These are then stored for chemical disposal day at our local tip. Plastic containers with screw on lids are also good. No danger of broken glass if they get knocked over. I used a funnel to fill plastic bottles with used chemicals for disposal.

My only thought on doing this is to be aware that some chemicals in paints may have a reaction to the plastics used in todays containers. Also the plastic is not all that strong as you would think. Not saying not to use them for this, but most of these types of containers are really fragile and overtime become brittle and can crack with the slightest bump. Also Paints exposed to light tend to fade, Even when stored as a liquid. If your keeping the paints be sure to put in dark closet out of daylight.

Yes good idea, also using baby powder food container, put left over paint in, seal with the plastic lid that comes with it and then turn upside down, paint will last for ever ,the same go's with paint in the tin ,seal lid well then turn upside down, make sure it is sealed well through

Well this was a slap to the forehead moment. I have all these cans of paint, don't know how much is left in each and what color. This is so simple one look on the shelf and I know exactly what I have and how much doing it this way. Going to have to start drink juice now. Thanks.

I have a question on storing paints I've just started crafting and painting and I wanted to make some chalk paint and use it but I was told you had to use it when its made or it would get to stiff to use so how will I figure out how much to mix and have to much and need to store it
