Pavement Ant

One of the most common household pests, Pavement Ants are dark brown to blackish, about 1/8 inch long. Pavement Ants get their name because they make their nests in or under cracks in pavement. Indoors, pavement ants nest in walls, insulation and under floors. They can quickly infest structures, becoming a nuisance. Pavement ants eat almost anything, including bread, meats, cheese, honey, nuts, grease and other insects. Pavement Ant prevention tips include: 1) Eliminate standing water. Ants are attracted to moisture. 2) Keep trees, branches & plants cut back away from the house. They can use these to get into your home. 3) Seal up any cracks or little openings around the house, inside & out. Ants can come in through the smallest of cracks. 4) Store all firewood and building materials away from the home. They like to nest in stacks of wood. 5) Last but not least, keep the home clean. Do not leave any food laying around or dishes in the sink overnight. Sweep/Vacuum floors to pick up food particlues, empty trash cans daily and wipe all surfaces down that had contact with food/water.
