Best Glue to Use for gluing things like this??

I like to use wood and or metal candlesticks and make things like the finials you see below. I have used Gorilla Glue in the past but I know the joints can snap apart when dropped and without much force. What is the best glue that would be a super strong bond? Thanks!!

I've never found anything Gorilla Glue can't hold, so I don't know where you go from there.

A lot of people use that E6000 glue. I never have but I hear it is has a super strong hold.

I second E6000. It bonds to a lot of different surfaces including glass.

For wood I use titebond III ...it is their water proof glue... I have trimmed some pieces glued with this and tried to beak apart the "off cuts" and in many cases the wood fails before the glue does.

Indeed, Titebond III for wood. Holds stronger than the actual wood itself. For the metal candlesticks you do, I would recommend JB Weld for a permanent solution.

Thanks!! @KMS Woodworks, Titebond sounds like what I was hoping to find. This is my first question on here and I love this feature. @Redfly Creations i have heard of JB Weld, that will be good to have on hand too! Thanks!

Selina, just be sure regardless of the adhesive you use. Be sure that the joining halves are properly cleaned and fit tight together. Glues do not fill gaps, they work best if the two halves are tightly fitting. So be sure to remove any old glue or finish that will prevent this from occurring.

E6000 is the BEST. I use it on wood and glass and ceramics.....the possibilities are endless...oh! Made my husbands retirement shadow box, does canvas to felt, too!

I have recently been introduces to Loctite glue. It did an amazing job. There are several selections that give you more or less drying time. Bought it at Home Depot.

Rhino glue!! Believe me.... you won't want anything else. I found E6000 a nightmare; too thick, messy, almost impossible to squeeze out of the brand new tube.... I can't figure out its popularity!

  @Lisa House I'm going to have to check that out. I do reborn's and it may be an ideal way to glue the inside of the doll's head; to hold the rooted hair in place.

Where did you get the finials on the top? I've searched the web and the big box stores for some----I need to fix an antique What Not shelf---would appreciate help.

  @Candy Daughtry I used to find them at thrift stores, but you can find some as curtain finials, so with curtain rods etc and smaller ones can sometimes be found at Lowes, etc where they have lamp parts.

Reas the label and follow the diections carefully, if you plan to use E6000. I would use super glue or anither wood glue. I havent had any luck with Gorilla Glue either.

I use Locktite construction Adhesive - in a tube like caulk. Inexpensive, sets in about 10 minutes and unbelievable bond. I've used it on dozens of different surfaces and so far haven't found anything it won't adhere to.

You might also consider carpenter's wood glue which you can purchase at Home Depot or Lowe's.

E6000 works on just about everything, holds really well, and dries clear. I use it for everything, from jewelry to wood to metal, and nothing has fallen apart. I buy mostly the small tubes, in bulk, so it doesn't dry out by the next use, but always have a new large tube on hand for bigger jobs, in case the little ones can't handle it. It's the best stuff ever.

  Use a silicone construction glue. Comes in a tube, u also need a a caulk gun. Home depot

I used E6000 to glue glass plates and saucers together for a lawn ornament and they all fell apart after being out in the weather for a few months. I would love to find a glue that binds glass and stays!

  I've used both, I think E6000 get thick and it's difficult to squeeze out of the tube.... it also takes longer to set. Rhino glue takes just a dab, sets within seconds and will hold everything, It also comes with different nozzels for pinpoint applications or larger ones whereas E6000 comes out of the tube often stringy and it gets messy. I definitely prefer the Rhino any day and since it takes so little it seems to last forever. (in case you're wondering.... I do not own stock in the company; just love their glue ; >)

  I've always just purchased it online.... type in 'Rhino Glue' and it takes you right to their site. Or, you might call your local hardware or building supply store to see if it's sold locally.

I have heard that some epoxy type glues will work. A lady who had made bird feeders and was at a art show told me that. Good luck.

I use jewelry glue E6000 for everything. Dries fast. . Its gooey so just a dab should do. Let cure for 24 hrs for added hardness. Seems to work on everything so far.(can be bought at any craft store or Walmart for about$6.) Good luck.
