Magnet tricks and hacks

Hello everyone, we recently discovered a really neat way to use magnets to get rings out of drain pipes: http://bit.ly/1CUADS9 and were wondering if anyone else has any home tricks / hacks with magnets?

    a real gold ring will not stick to a magnet

      @Sandy Loyd Pure gold isn’t magnetic, but rings are actually mixed with alloys to keep their shape and make them durable. For yellow gold, the other metals are likely to be silver and copper (which are NOT magnetic). For white gold the other metals may be platinum, palladium, zinc, and/or nickel, which are magnetic.

    You are correct but a 14 or 10 K ring will not stick to a magnet...only if the ring has more alloys in it...try it

    You can also put some foundation make-up on the top of your hand, after it is dry rub your gold item on it. If it is gold there will be a faint dark line, if not no line. Learned this from a science teacher.

    I use magnets for washer and dryer leave messages alo on old wash board to put a picture of the month

    IF YOU HAVE THE OLS BINGO MAGNET'S THAT SURELY WILL DO THE JOB GOOD LUCK I HOPE MY SUUGGESTION IS HELPFUL
