materials: one zinc tub, vintage European linen, vintage ticking for welt and one great upholsterer who understands the inside of my brain

What provides the support for the top? You sure can't sit on an "empty hole?"

I agree with Jeanette S, it does make u smile. Did you consider putting a round board inside and screwing on rollers? Nice job! What did you support the top with. I can see my big boys in the tub and us laughing till we cry. I'll have to figure this out..
