I need help! With the top of a dirty grungy gas stove

Top of gas stove is worse than bad with all the baked on crap. I'd like to toss it but can't afford a new one. How to clean the top of a once was white gas stove-- help please!

Have you tried a baking soda, salt & water paste? It may take some scrubbing and some muscle. But that may work. I would add the stuff together and then add enough water to just make a paste. After you put it on, let it sit for about 10 minutes and then use a scrubber to get it off. If it's as bad as you say it is,, it sounds like several times will do the trick. I hope it works.

If the very good solution above doesn't work, try a fumeless oven cleaner. Use gloves!

I use boiling hot white vinegar and baking soda on mine. It helps.

I always use oven cleaner. Make sure gas is turned off! Use gloves and make sure you don't get on any metal pieces. It will damage the finish. You can also use it on the gas grates. May need to do it twice if really bad.

Yep I use oven cleaner for this and on all my glass pots and pans. Works like a charm. Have new glass top stove, well not new but new to me I use it on there too. Also use to clean BBQ grills. Get the real kind not some knock off cause it is a waste of time. EASY OFF nonfume is great.

I use a product called awesome. It's available at the dollar stores. You have to let soak for about 10 minutes. Good Luck...

Saw a pin on Pinterest about cleaning the metal grates by putting them in a plastic bag with only ammonia in a bowl. The fumes cut the baked on grease. You might try removing the top of the stove & putting it in a large trash bag with ammonia, leaving it securely closed up overnight & see if that cleans the sort of it. I've used that inside my ovens with success. Just DONT mix the ammonia with anything else, like bleach. That makes a deadly gas.

I use hydrogen peroxide with baking soda for mine and it creakily cuts down the scrubbing.

I sprinkle OxyClean granules on top of the burned on stuff, add alittle water to make a paste & let it sit. The paste soaks into the grime & crud, softening it and it's easier to remove. You will still need alittle elbow grease and an old soft scrubee to get into the crevices and whatever doesn't come off with that, you can use a metal scraper at a horizontal angle to lightly scrape off the rest. Don't GOUGE, but scrape along the top level at a flat angle and it will all come off. I'm a professional detail cleaner and it works. I also use toothpicks and Qtips to get into tight corners and areas you finger is too big to get into.

Try dishwasher gel. Spread it on, let it sit for about 5 to 10 minutes then use one of those green scrubbers to remove the grime. Works on my gas stove. Just be careful not to clog the orifices.

I have new stove that I want to keep that way. If your burners come off put everything in sink and spray down with "Mr clean Mr muscle". then I spray top of stove & let it set awhile. sometimes I have to use a brillo but most times not!

well since coke is so abrasive, dump some on it and let it sit on there for a little while and see if that don't work, and I heard if you put baking soda down and dump peroxide on that and let it get done bubbling, its said to be a good cleaner, Good luck.

I like the idea about the oven cleaner (duh). I never thought of that. The Awesome product is good, as well. I was thinking of a "cheap way" to clean it first.

Awesome, from the dollar store. It truly is awesome... soak it for a while, than use one of those eraser sponges, and/or a brillo pad..
