Christmas Decorating (like they do in magazines)

Yes, I'm early, but I'm my own boss, so I won't get fired :). I had these lanterns out on my porch for months, and was inspired by Pottery Barn to try this easy decorating trick with things I already have. This would work with a vase, or a bowl too. So pretty for the foyer.

I love it, Julie! You're inspiring me to try some new decor this year. How do you keep your greenery fresh?

Good question Sharon...I don't! You would be surprised how long those needles stay green. However, I do know that you can mist it, but be careful to turn lights off first. Also- Don't put lights near dry needles. I don't keep this on long...just a couple hours, and off at bedtime. I was worried about the candy canes, but they did fine.

I have actually sprayed my greenery with clear coat (from the craft store) and it stayed green until I was ready to take it down. These are beautiful and I have done much the same with unfinished wooden bird feeders I purchased at Dollar General for $8 each. I removed the rope, used for hanging and keeping the lid in place, painted them black, added white sand and tealight candles. Very pretty centerpieces! I can change decorations for any season. Not bad for $16 dollars (for 2) and a very short amount of time!
