Covering the bottom half of a sink

What would you do to this sink? I have requested that my sellers address the "naked" under sink. What you do? Other than replacing the top. Help! I was thinking a curtain but... hoping for something a little sturdier.

I tend to severely dislike the whole 'curtain covering things' trend, so I wouldn't go that route. What would be wrong with just finding a cabinet that you like so that you're one step closer to personalizing the space?

check out your local thrift stores for cabinets, or cabinet doors that are the same size and can be repurposed into a cabinet for this. you could use chalk paint to give it an antique washed look...(I say that but I have yet to try the chalk paint myself although I really want to and it's on my list!) good luck, I hope you find something appealing to you! :)

Use Beadboard to go around the area. Just like that type that is on you half wall.

...I was thinking a piece of " something"...in the same color that is on the countertop...would add continuity to the front and make it look more finished. ..I personally dont mind people using a piece of fabric as long as its done with a TAILORED LOOK and goes with the overall ' feel' of ones home. .

Fabric in a bathroom never really lasts too long. I would use bead board or maybe some shutters or an old door cut to size on all 3 sides and put together with L brackets so you can pull it out if you need to use the space and to clean. plaint to match something in the bathroom. Ceiling or wall color.

It's industrial contemporary looking to me. How about going to a machine shop and having them make a cabinet with doors out of galvanized metal with some funky handles.

Thanks for all the responses! Great ideas! I will pass them along to my client. I may just recommend they go buy a new cabinet to put in. I will be sure to post what the results are.

They could cover the area below the sink or they could make this look more modern. I'd ask them to paint the support beams and clean up the mess they have going on below. There are now also pipe covers that they can add to the water piping. Add some baskets to organize the unwelcoming collection, clean up the top of the sink, add some pretty glass jars and a flower. Remove the toilet roll and actually hang that on the toilet holder by the sink.

Why not just box in the pipes with wood and then create a nice shelf for a container holding cleaners, etc. You could attach the shelf to the wall and to the new wood post columns for support. Leave the drain open for repairs but the new wood posts would hide it somewhat

Buy or make a sink skirt. If you make your own you can use a shower curtain for the material. That will withstand mist, water or even mildew. Pinterest has a lot of "no sew" sink skirt pins if your not a sewing type of person. I think they really man is a bathroom cozy. It's easy, inexpensive and you still can hide stuff behind the curtain. Good luck

Quick easy fix, would be to create a skirt it with fabric to hang from the under side of the counter.

That is one truly ugly sink! I gather that you're a real estate agent who is trying to help them sell their home? Tell them to take 2 pieces of thin plywood (or bead board), cut to fit & a piece of 1 X 2, cut slightly smaller than the height, that the wood can be nailed to so that the whole L shaped thing is free standing. Paint it white gloss. Attach some sort of handles so that the whole thing can be easily removed & put back. Simple, effective & cheap. Not even close to what I'd do but I'm handy with tools.

Former Realtor, here, 21 years...Cut boards to go around just under the sink counter, approximately 8-10" wide. Miter the corners, attach. Then, sand (top looks like wood) top and sides, stain, to go with other things in bathroom, and put a marine varnish in a SATIN finish on the whole thing. You might want to add a shelf very low, and finish that also. Keep the current legs, and make sure that all clutter is out of the bath, make it SUPER clean, and stage it with new towels -- ones that you will want to use in your new house. This looks like a fairly small bathroom, and having it open under the sink, makes it look better. Usually, there is a linen closet nearby, organize the closet, and store bath cleaners in there.

The whole thing looks" homemade." It has a bit of industrial feel to it. Maybe they could paint the pipe supports, clean up the things underneath, and place some metal stacking bins between them. That would camouflage the drain, etc. and stay with the industrial vibe somewhat.

There area lot of inexpensive, and clever ideas. If you don't want to see the pipes, then add some of those poster boards right infront of it, maybe paint them. then put some narrow containers infront of that for storage.
