DOLLAR GENERAL, look there first for inexpensive solutions.

I would go either to Lowes or Home Depot. Their shelving comes already finished or the associates in the lumber division can cut pieces of 2x6 for you in any length.

If you are on facebook you can look for a resale page. I've bought and sold lots of things on our local site.

Also look on freecycle.com for your area. They have things they are giving away on this site.

Try Salvation Army or Goodwill if you are not looking for bare wood but used items. Let your imagination do the work.

@srward7 all of the ideas above are good ones. In our area, especially from spring to fall you can troll the areas with garbage collection the next day and find lots of stuff people are throwing away. Also troll when you know there has been a garage sale, following the sale a lot of people throw unsold items to the curb. Could also be an idea to troll apartment buildings on popular moving days. Or if there is an area where there are a lot of students, troll those areas at the end of a school year. Good luck and happy hunting.
