Can anyone tell me what this flower is?

I've never seen any like it...found it at the Safeway floral department. It had no tags on it saying what it is.

@Vicki Is it a cooler temperature there? It hardly ever gets over 85 degrees here and is often under 40 degrees.....and how do you dry them? I have dried roses before by hanging them upside down until they dry out.

Protea is both the botanical name and the English common name of a genus of South African flowering plants, sometimes also called sugarbushes.

I Googled it and saw many different varieties....I'd love to be able to grow a few of the bushes but not sure if they'd grow on the Oregon coast.

Easy to dry, airy place, like your roses upside down. Temperature where I live: we don't get snow here in the north of NZ, and we do have long hot /warm summers. My advice is to go to your local nursery. Have a lovely week…Vicki
