Painting My Dishwasher White in Kitchen Remodel

When we bought the house a year ago it came with a stainless steel dishwasher and all other appliances were white. Rather than changing all the other appliances I decided to paint this one.
I also decided to go with all white appliances because I feel like steel shows too many fingerprints. So not only did this process save me money, but it also saved me lots of sticky little fingerprint wipe-ups!

First step was to clean it, then give it a light coat of Zinsser to prevent any rust bleed.
Then I used Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Protective Enamel in Gloss White and I laid it on thick. It was a 1/2 pint can and it took about 1/4 of the can. You have to make sure you're not painting on so much that it will drip, but enough so you can't see silver through it. It can always get a second coat after 24 hours if you need to, but I dont feel thats necessary on mine.
I had the zinsser already because we're in the middle of painting the cabinets, and the Rustoleum cost just under $4 at Wal-mart. I also used a small brush that we already had (which is now garbage because its an oil based paint and I dont feel like cleaning the brush). So for $4 I have "new" dishwasher and I LOVE it! It shines so much I can see the floors reflection in it!
I will add more pictures when we finish the kitchen update! Thanks for looking!

How did you know what type of paint to use? I have a black dishwasher that I want to paint white. I have seen other posts that have used spray paint epoxy. How do I know which is right for my dishwasher?

All for painting almost anything with Rustoleums 2X paints which can be found at Home Depot. With a little patience and practice you can achieve a near factory finish. Feel free to check out my posts. I painted cabinets I had found on Craigslist....

@Tim D. (The Retro Den) I love Rustoleum too. I ended up doing the range hood in the white because it wasn't as bright. I also use the cans of Rustoleum for a lot of things around the house to give them a nice face lift! Thanks for the comment and I'll check out your stuff!!

Summerville! Just outside of Charleston. One of my all time favorite cities in the world. I hope to retire down there someday. Anyway, it sounds like you are seasoned in the ways of Rustoleum. Nothing else like it for making anything look good. Painted a glass panel door and did not use use masking tape. It took hours with a razor blade to scrape off the paint from the glass. That made me a believer... Great adhesion... very durable
