Schluter Ditra Uncoupling membrane, can it be used on a backsplash?

Hi. I am doing a kitchen back splash. I cannot fit cement board on the wall because it is to thick. I would have to adjust the wall sockets and I don't know how. The wall when I took off the old tiles is not quite level. Is it safe to use Schluter ditra uncoupling membrane on the wall. It is the perfect thickness at 1/8". Is it fire resistant like cement board? Or are there any laws in California that prohibit someone from using them near wall outlets?

For a back splash you can glue right to the wall, just use the right adhesive.

I don't think there are codes about fire resistance by outlets. That's why you have GFCI outlets in the kitchen....and if you didn't notice the wall being uneven before, I'd think you could just tile over it again. The smaller the tiles, the less trouble the installation.

All those rough patches from removing the old tile will be a problem that you have to deal with. You will have to smooth the wall before installing the new tile.
