Oh, I can help if you don't mind a little work. The ticket here is that it's oak. I've updated 9, solid white, factory finish oak cabinets to this look with great success. Normally I'd say Citristrip these, but given they've already got white in them (I'm sure they're a bit pink) just give 'em a good sand. Don't worry about the white in the grain. - Next, I use Varathane's 'Sunbleached' stain. Something gray without blue in it. - After than, a good rub with sand paper again. - Next for me was Minwax's 'Provincal' (could use 'English Walnut') and another light sand. Don't worry about getting everything sanded. Just rub. - Next Minwax's 'Jacobean' - and finally, another Varathane's 'Sunbleached." Now, I got my finish from complete experimentation, but I can tell you if I didn't get the lighter stain into the grain first, it just stayed different shades of brown. The gray stain changes the white left into the grain to the silver color you would want for the RH finish. The browns (notice, no red!?) just temper it to something that spoke to me. I sealed the bottoms with polyacrylic rubbed on (not painted) and the uppers with a flat, dark paint base for a matte finish. Or you could just get some chalk paint and go to town.

you sound like you have mastered this one ! I appreciate your input...I really don't want to try and "paint" the finish...this sounds better than chalk paint. Could you post a photo please?...It sounds wonderful !

If you don't mind sanding the cabinets down to bare wood, you will get an excellent weathered look using Driftwood Weathered Wood Finish from DIYDriftwood.com. If your cabinets are oak, you will get a very dark color unless you dilute the product and if you want the color more brown than grey you just add a pinch of baking soda to the solution before applying. It mixes with water and is very easy to use and clean up.
