Painting and glazing kitchen cabinets

I am not sure whether I want to paint and distress my kitchen cabinets or put glazing on them. Any one ever done either. They have been painted 2 times now and need an update.

There is a product called Cabinet Rescue that I believe you can get from Lowes. We bought our home about 2.5 yrs ago. The gentlemen that restored the whole house used it in the kitchen on the cabinets. We thought they were new :) It has held up very well even over the stove.

I painted our cabinets white then used an antique glaze over the top and it turned out great! However, having come across Maison Blanche vintage furniture paint and wax, I would be tempted to try that. It does not require sanding, prior to use. Check it out..:)

Are you wanting a new color, or just a slightly new look? If the current color is in pretty good shape, adding a glaze is a relatively easy way to update them without completely redoing them. But if the paint is really chipping and wearing, you probably will get better results from repainting them. You can also distress and/or glaze once they're repainted.

I have done both separately and together. It depends the look you are going for. What kind of look do you want? Any pics?
