Try a product called Goof off. Google it to see who carries it.

hire a floor sander and go for it. goof off doesn't remove paint.

Goof off surely does remove paint, but the amount that would have to be bought for a porch would be ridiculous. You're right...I'd get the sander.

Power wash first, then you won't have quite as much work with the sander.

If it is exterior paint, preasure washing will work well, however; you may need a couple different nozzels heads for different pressures that may be necessary to completely remove the paint. Here is a link to a Bob Villa video that will show you what I am referring to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNMEW3goAFg Just copy and past into your browser. There is a commercial before the video. Also be sure not to use too powerful of a nozzel so that you don't strip too many layers of wood off while taking the paint off. Hire a pro with the experience and equipment to do the job. Make cost a few $ but will save you time, energy and aggravation - and you'll have great results.

vertical surfaces will require chemical paint remover. not goof off. floors will have to be sanded.
