Can I paint contact paper covered cabinets done by factory?

Denise Powis on Jan 30, 2015Mary, I had the same type cabinets, I removed the vinyl covering as it was cracking and loose in places. The wood underneath was some kind of pressed wood, but very smooth. I just painted the cabinets with interior trim paint, probably five years ago and they have held up well.Helpful Reply

Denise Powis on Jan 31, 2015I guess mine are different material, the plastic/vinyl really just peeled away from the wood, it stuck only minimally and I could easily scrape it off at those points. I hope that you can find a solution......Helpful Reply

The Homespun Hydrangea on Feb 02, 2015Hi Mary! We are using Rustoleum's Cabinet Painting System right now actually. It claims you can use it on virtually any surface without sanding or priming. So far the results are great. You might look into this and contact Rustoleum to see if this might be a product that would work on your surfaces.Helpful Reply
