Yarn Christmas Tree

This is an easy project. All that is needed is yarn, glue, spray starch, and a form. I used a foam cone I bought at Hobby Lobby. I left the plastic wrap on to makesure I could get the finished tree off of the form. Step1. Pour some glue in abowl and water it down until it is the consistency of heavy cream. 2. Pull alength of yarn and soak it in the bowl. 3. Wrap the yarn this way and that around the form. Just keep pulling new lengths of yarn into the bowl as needed.4. When you are done with your tree, let it dry overnight. 5. The next day, spray your tree with heavy spray starch and let it dry overnight. 6. When dry, tap the yarn to check its stiffness. If it is stiff enough to hold up its ownweight, you're done. If it is a little saggy, apply another coat of spraystarch.
A couple of tips I have are to protect your work surface well. This is an extremely messy project. I like to wear disposable gloves while doing this project. I have had really good success using twine instead of yarn. The twine holds its shape with just the glue mixture, letting you skip the spray starch step. Plus, the twine can easily be spray painted.

@Taunnie - Oh you make me laugh - in a good way!! This is just so goofy 'sounding' but seeing is absolutely believing!! What a simple, albeit messy, but totally cool idea!! Love it!!!

Thanks Susan! The messiness kinda grosses me out. When I was little and did these kind of crafts, it was the coolest thing ever to have dried glue all over my hands. Not so much any more :)
