Heart Art Made Out of Scrap Pieces of Molding
If you work with wood, you probably have a big pile of scraps. Well, this project is going to help you reduce that pile and end up with art on your walls.
Even if you don't work with wood you can buy some random pieces at a Re-store or home center to create it.
The molding pieces were arranged on the floor as seen in the picture.
Then, I tried to free hand the heart shape on the boards but it was impossible, one side was always bigger than the other. Folding a piece of paper and drawing half the heart was a better choice to make both sides even. Then the template was transferred onto the boards.
Each piece of molding was cut with my BladeRunner, you can also use a jigsaw or handsaw.
Until the heart shape is out.
Each board was painted a strong color with acrylic paints.
Once dry, a heavy coat of Elmer's glue was applied in order to get the crackled finish.
When the glue is almost dry - tacky to the touch- the final coat of paint is applied.
As it dries, the crackles begin to appear.
