Master bedroom wall decor?

I just changed my bedroom bedding to maroon and gold with matching curtains and the walls were painted a matching gold/tan. The walls are bare because I don't know what to put on them? If I use framed pictures what color should the frames be? My furniture is oak! I want it to be warm and cozy! Help!

I love oak. I would go with oak frames. I like all my frames to match in each area. Once you decide on pictures and sizes you need, then go and purchase the frames all at the same time so you can make sure they are the same, if this is what you decide to do. I started collecting a certain style but before I could finish my wall the store quit carrying that frame and I wasn't able to match perfectly. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your help and suggestion! I do like the oak frame idea! Now just have to figure out what art to put in the frames! Thanks!

This sounds just like my master bedroom. I decided to go with an Asian theme on my walls. I have framed pictures of cherry blossoms, and I have a wall with a large Japanese fan on it, along with some smaller fans. Not sure if this is your thing or not, but the colors do lend themselves to some sort of Asian themed artwork.

If you already have the frames, how about painting them cream and if they have any detail, use a stencil dabber to pick them out in gold. I did this on a mirror frame and it was pretty painted cream, but once I started picking the detail out in gold, it was Wow that really makes the frame pop out at you! I used acrylic metallic gold so I could wipe up any excess or mistakes ( it also helps you push the paint into the detail) I then top coated the frames with a water based Matt varnish so it would not discolour the cream and made them extremely hard wearing. Hope this helps and your bedroom turns out beautiful!

My first thought before I heard the oak furniture was wrought iron. Anything black iron would work really well....I think it would look more upscale than the oak frames, but they would work too, in a pinch. Anything black, like black wooden frames.....golden candleholders for the wall, gold or black vases for flower arrangements would be nice, with a touch of maroon, pinks and golds for the flowers.

I don't know what kind of "theme" you have, but I was wanting something to put into some old antique wooden frames, so I found some white to cream lacy or crocheted doilies at a thrift/2nd hand store and mounted them on some colored taffeta. They make beautiful and highly talked about wall décor.

I have similar colors (coral and gold) and my furniture is dark. I like to mix up the finishes on the mirrors and frames. I love starburst mirrors for bedrooms (actually anywhere) not just picture frames. Here is a post that has pictures of my bedroom and you can see what I have up on some of the walls. http://gracefulorder.com/2015/01/26/organized-home-week-4-master-bedroom/

Another piece of advice is not to invest too much money into items that tie you into a color or a theme. This way if you want to change things in the future, it is easy and inexpensive to do so. For example, throw pillows can add color to a room but they are an easy and inexpensive item to change down the line.
