I am gutting my sons whole bathroom except decent shower with bench. He is only six so phase 2 latter I will rip it out and tile it. I was about to pull this vanity out and decided to give it a shot at total face lift. All I had to lose was time and very little money. I removed the floor, took out poorly framed and very bulky storage on both sides ( 25 2x4's..crazy to waste all that extra space with couple feet of framed sheet rock and removed the dropped ceiling over shower and cabinets.
Vanity and mirror before
Sorry if the intro was too long. I included it in case I post other parts of this bathroom remodel. Floor to ceiling including new recessed lights and modern sconces
Close up with stains and cig burns
It's all about that prep!!! Clean and prep until as smooth as possible. I may go over board on prep but that's only 1 of my issues. Lol. If u can't laugh at your self others might. Use any tools u like including: razor blade, sand paper to scuff for best adhesion. I also rounded edges some.
Awesome shine with Appliance Epoxy Paint
Be sure to tape off every thing. Sink, mirror, flloor, etc. I used the epoxy spray paint but also had some tub refinishing spray left over so used that too so I could get lots of layers. Appliance epoxy is on top but I didn't see a difference in the 2. I sanded with 400 grit in between coats for smooth look and durability.
Picture even shows the factory like finish
I thought the sink was white before but not after doing the counter, so I will refinish the sink. I am in process of remodeling vanity base. My son wants red😊 I am converting the outdated flat recessed routed design into shaker doors and have picked the mirror gram design ready. I love framing the large mirrors because you just need to make it and glue it on. Have a fantastic DIY day my friends!!
