Marble top tables - are they coming back in style?

I have a couple of beautiful marble top coffee tables that I would love to paint and sell. I'm not sure if marble is coming back in style. What do you all think?

I have been thinking about creating a marble top table. Myself, though am not a fan of painting over wood. There is a huge trend of painting wood furniture with milk paints. If I went to paint, I might go antique metallic finish, maybe bronze, but that is just my preference.

I would paint the wood in a heartbeat. I would use a cream or white (to compliment the cream/white in the marble top) and accent with gold in the grooves of the wood.

@Marcy Cupples I think it would Marcy, the white/cream color will be much more complimentary in any color scheme. I think it would make the piece more modern and would appeal to a wider audience. The lighter bottom would make the marble top stand out more.

I would paint it a cream colored chalk paint ,distress it and I think it would sell in a heart beat!

Sharon I was thinking the same thing, but not with the distressing. I think marble never goes out of vogue and there is always a market for the timeless material.

I agree about the tables being a classy classic. If you like them as they are, you can always use them next to something more "in vogue" to update the look. I think they would be gracious on top of a wonderful rug, even if you use white covers on the upholstery.

If you are selling your coffee tables why worry about doing anything to them? They look beautiful as they are and I would buy them as is in a heartbeat, if I had any money.
