Color to paint desk?

I have a small late 1940's desk with drawers on either side. (sorry, no pics). I got it a thrift store so it needs re-finishing or painting. The room is rather casual with a dark gold modern sofa, hunter green recliner, gold, hunter green and berry patterned side chair. The walls are a creamy honey beige. Oh, the rug is a floral light sage green with mustard, rust,teal and dark green large flowers. I think I want to paint the desk, but I want to put a pop of color into the otherwise sedately colored room. Shout out your first reaction!

Its hard to tell without seeing the room but gold metallic would definitely give it some vavoom.

how about painting it the berry color with a hint of the cream and or gold as accent colors? or ream with the betty color as the accent?

I painted mine dark purple. There's nothing else in the room that color, but it's the same intensity as some of the red in the nearby artwork, so I thought it would mesh well. I don't like matchy-poo.
