Is there a difference between chalk paint and chalkboard paint?

I am planning on making some of the storage boxes that you displayed on your site. You suggested to use chalk paint for this project. However, I am certain if there is a difference between the two paints. Thank you. Karen Hand

Yes Karen, chalk paint is the new trend in flat/matte finishes in endless colors ... chalk board paint is just that, it delivers a finish that you can write on with chalk

Thank you BeckySue for your quick response to my inquiry. I was pretty sure that there was a difference in the paints, but wanted to check for sure. Apparently, I will need to inform the manager of my local Michael's store because he told me that there was no difference at all. And thank you BrightNest for the recipe to make my own paint. I appreciate both of your responses.

I find it all too funny what managers don't know. I have the same problem all the time when asking a question. I do however find that manager and let them know the right answer as soon as I figure it out. And they make the big bucks pffft!

Marg: I am simply amazed that a manager of a chain craft store didn't know the answer to this question. Perhaps, he should have asked his female assistant manager. :)

I'm amazed too with it being basically the new 'craze'. Yes, he should have consulted with one of his 'female' managers ;) He probably doesn't know much at all when it comes to crafting etc.
