Free online sources/apps for pricing antiques or vintage items

Hi. I was wondering if anyone could suggest any good (free) online sources or apps for pricing antiques or vintage items I wish to sell? Not having a lot of luck with some of the apps I've downloaded. Either they just don't work or I can't seem to find any similar items that I am trying to get a price on for selling. This is a recent item I tried to find (Heritage Henredon sideboard with slate top. Probably from the 50s? It's in excellent condition. Not scratches, dings or dents. Thanks!

Hi Melissa. I've been a thrift shopper for years and have had that same dilemma! Knowing a good bargain when I see it, I can't resist snatching it up! If I or one of my 'kids' can't use it, I've frequently had to re-sell. I type the item into google and view by 'Images' until I see one similar. The best way to get an idea of it's worth is to view eBay, Etsy, or other sellers' sites - even Craigslist. I just quickly glanced eBay and they have several Heritage Henredon sideboards listed. Don't forget to check under other names - sideboard, buffet, credenza, etc. Hope this helps!

Also check the completed listing list. Sometimes someone is asking too much and the item doesn't sell. I always use EBay to see what something's are selling for and if it sold.

I "think" Heritage is a Drexel item. Not sure, but Drexel is good furniture. I recently had a dresser (in really bad shape) given to me. They were throwing it away, and I asked for it. Refinished it and it is absolutely beautiful for my tv. Then I found on Craigslist a two-part dresser with 6 drawers and a hutch with shelves. Bought it a really good price, and turned out it is a Drexel. Yay!! Just what we needed for home office.

I go with the ebay option. You may need to spend some time browsing different categories before you find something similar but it definitely gives you a 'ball park'. The idea of checking 'sold' price is good as items can be overpriced for the market.

Yeah, I looked at EBay and even Etsy. Found similar pieces with a huge range of prices ($300 to over $1,000). I'll do another check on sold items. That's a good advice. Thanks!

There are several Facebook groups that ID and value antiques and collectibles Some allow you to sell there too. Many of them have thousands of members from around the world, so they are pretty accurate on their ID's and values.

Drexel is definitely good furniture and, Yes, Heritage is one of their lines. Go on Drexel's website and go from there to give you an idea of year, original cost, etc.

This is a beautiful piece of Henredon furniture. Had nothing to do with Drexel. Henredon was based in N.C. and closed several years ago due to outsourcing. Heredon had the contract to make much of the furniture for Disney World. Very expensive furniture in its time.
