  • It takes very little! Pour a very small amount of fabric softener or vinegar in a bowl and dip the clothes.
  • Let them hang dry and then pop them in the dryer when you need them. You can use many times before you need to "re-dip" them. Also a wonderful air freshener as they hang!

DIY Dryer Sheets (One of my #ProudestDIY projects )

A while back I experimented with something when I ran out of dryer sheets. I did not have any coupons and I was NOT going to pay full price for dryer sheets. So out of this need came this ...»
idea.It is so easy to dip, dry and use over and over! This has saved me lots of money as I do NOT buy fabric softer sheets anymore!

Shower and Tub Cleaner

This is a quick and easy way to keep your shower clean in just two minutes a day.Just get a dish washing wand and fill the dispenser half with vinegar and half with liquid dish soap. Keep ...»
it in the shower. That way everything is ready to go. When you get in, wet the sponge, and scrub away. Next, well, take a shower. That's it. I do a little section of the shower each day and work my way around the whole area about twice a week.

If the mixture gets thick, just add a little water. Also, I would caution that it is important to rinse well, and keep out of eyes as you would any cleanser.

A Peacock in the Backyard

I found this awesome and huge peacock at the Restore and after fixing his foot and slathering him up with some outdoor poly, he now lives in our backyard.

Bird feeder deterrent

After so long doing battle with squirrels attacking my bird feeder and trying everything possible, I resorted to doing something less expensive. I simply took packing tape, {sticky side ...»
outside} and so far they have not been able to get past it .I have watched it for 2 days and so far the birds are able to eat in peace the squirrels just pick up the seed that falls

Old wire egg basket and thrift store floor lamp stand repurposed into an outdoor planter

I used an old wire egg basket and a thrift store floor lamp stand to make this outdoor flower stand. The basket is lined with black landscape cloth and a hanging basket liner. ASSEMBLY ...»
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLANT STANDRemove lamp assembly and wiring from lamp stand, leaving the threaded nipple that connected it to the stand.Paint the stand & basket if desired. We used rust preventive outdoor paint. Cut a block from a piece of pressure treated wood. We used an old piece that we had on hand and cut our block approx. 1"x 5 ½ " x 5 ½".Then drill a hole in the block that will allow it to slip down over the nipple and fit snuggly onto the stand. You will now need to countersink a nut onto the nipple. The block should now be firmly seated.Next, center the basket onto the block and attach as shown in photo. If using the plant stand outdoors you will need to anchor it to the ground. We used two 1/2" pieces of rebar that were about 2 feet long. This will depend on the soil type. If using rebar, you will need a torch to bend a 90 degree angle that will fit over the top of the base as shown in photo. You can be creative with any of these steps, but be sure that it is weather proof and sturdy.

Overwintering Geraniums

Would you believe this Geranium is 5 years old? With a total outlay of approximately $10, the total cost per year is $2. When it is time for frost, bring your geraniums into the garage/shed for the winter. I hang mine from the ceiling with hooks. Let it go dormant and when March rolls around and the weather gets nicer, start putting it out in the sun during the day and start watering it. (I don't water all winter long.) It will get ratty looking, but in the Spring, remove all the ...»
yucky stuff, it'll grow back. I had about given up on this one this Spring, and look at it now!
