My bathtub drain is all stopped up.

i was going to unscrew the screen and pull out the hair that I think is gunking it up. But I was wondering if I should use / buy Drano to clean things out a bit. What do you think? Is ...»
Drano worth it? Does it damage pipes? Is there anything better to use?

Thanks everyone: so I bought a two-in-one product at Home Depot from Drano for $6.98, which ...»
came with a Zip-It clone (in red instead of white) and a bottle of Drano Max Gel. You first "snake" the drain and then apply the gel for 30 minutes, followed by hot water.

The snake only went in about halfway, and then managed to pull out a significant clump of hair and associated gunk (sorry so gross). Followed with gel, and the drain appears to be cleared out. So far so good--thanks for the comments: will let everyone know if the drain continues to work!

Hey everyone: I was wondering if contractors or customers had any thoughts on how reliable Home Depot and Lowe's staff

members were as resources for answering the kind of home improvement questions that tend to come up on Hometalk. ...»

A friend of mine mentioned that for her home improvement questions, which tended to occur to her while she was working with a contractors on a specific project (I.e. she wanted a second opinion on a contractors' recommendation) she found asking the Home Depot people a valuable approach.

I was thinking I should start using the HD or Lowe's staff more frequently as resources. Can anyone provide some unbiased advice on the strengths and weaknesses of the HD and Lowe's staff in this context?

Design & Décor: Does anyone have easy fixes for cheaply making a small studio apartment look bigger and brighter?

No room for more mirrors, unfortunately. Anything else?

Flooring: Does anyone know of a great, and not tooooo expensive parquet floor manufacturer?

The floor in my apt is super old parquet, the owner says I have to replace it with parquet, but I can't seem to find a style or manufacturer that looks modern and nice. Any ideas?
