In what I would call one of my all time best finds, I got this hutch in a thrift store for $12. I couldn't get it out the door fast enough. I revived it with paint and stain and it really has been a personal favourite.

OH I sooooooo envy you right now! You made it yours, and you made it gorgeous! Way to go!!!
We're not talking infestation here, but we seem to have up to 20 persistent fruit flies in the kitchen - regardless of the presence of fruit! Can't figure out where they're coming from! How do we get rid of them? Quick - before we start naming them!

Candy, hang plastic bags 1/2 filled with water from your porch..proportional with the size of
the porch. Wait an hour and they should be gone, if it even takes an hour!
Yep, that's a 10 foot tall tree made out of different diameters of steel round rod complete with colored bottles my mom collected from friends and a few she purchased from the internet.
She estimates that it cost about $300 for materials. $150 for the metal and $150 for the colored bottles. Lots more about my mom's DIY bottle tree (and where the bottle tree tradition came from) on the ol' blog. #SummerStyle

You know Dawn, it is sad that because you don't particularly care for something, you put the
object and the person down. I'm sorry you didn't get to grow up in a neighborhood where people accepted you for what you are and encourage everyone to go for what makes them happy. You probably would have even learned a good lesson on manners and compassion as well as learning to enjoy peoples creative minds. I'm not crazy about the bottle trees, but I can certainly see how the color and form would make someone happy. I will pray that your eyes be opened to the beauty seen through other people's eyes!
Thanks to my neighbors who moved out and "left" this behind next to the trash...after a quick cleaning, it will be the perfect chair next to fire pit !!

I bought two of these chairs. One was broken during moving it...it now has no middle finger
or ring finger...I would leave it, since it says "I love you" in sign, but it isn't comfortable without the two fingers. I've bought the stuff to repair it, and had it moved to the deck so I can work on it. I love these chairs!!!
This pond was built right up against the natural rock outcroppings and up to the Japanese style house. The pond has (6) 3.5' long imported KOI that are hand fed right out through the
bedroom windows. The water is held in by an painted on black epoxy liner that goes from waterline to waterline. The black color gives the pond the look of infinite depth and makes the colors of the KOI really pop. Adequate filtration and a planted bog keep the water very clean & clear. Overflow pipes and an automatic waterfill keep the water at the perfect level all year round. We harvest between 300 - 500 baby KOI every 2 years. The rooms in the house around the pond are sunken 4' below water level. Open a window and you can reach out and touch the water from every room adjacent to the pond. The home owner swims in the pond with the fish when he is in the mood. TJB-INC comes every spring to clean and tweek the pond & filters. Customer comes to our Hamden,CT store to pick-up Aquascape Premium Fish Food in 44lb sacks.
This gorgeous house sits on a private road on the Guilford harbor. See photos for ocean view from front porch.
