  • This quirky, double wide sized pallet wood chair is all decked out, ready for a great summer read.
  • Two pallets, 4 legs and two armrest boards are really all it took. So easy! The trick is to ensure you find two pallets that are similar in size.
  • Let's add more quirk to make it totally yours! This signboard was used as an armrest. Note how wide the board is... perfect for my coffee cup. Priorities here...
  • This leg has an antique level attached. This project is a little like 'Where's Waldo's Wild Additions?'
  • Pallet markings were celebrated by placing them in prominent places. Coffee bean sacks acting like large pillow cases were just tucked in place. No sewing required. 2
  • For the legs, a little bracing was required inside the pallet so the leg had something to stabilize against.
  • Tell me that isn't one big cool chair to curl up in! But let's add some comfort...
  • 5" foam cut to size (new from a foam shop) was key for the ultimate comfort.
  • This is a pallet SOFA I made last year, decked out in total bohemian style craziness. The build is much more size customized: http://www.funkyjunkinteriors.net/2011/08/how-i-built-pallet-sofa-part-2.html

Washing Windows Like The Pros

I cannot take credit for this discovery; however I can tell you that it works! In my opinion this is the best way for washing windows. A cleaning company shared this tip with me four ...»
years ago, I was using glass cleaner, vinegar and newspapers. Nothing I did completely cleaned the window. This is the only thing I use now.

Items Needed for Washing Windows

(All items except the Dawn were purchased at Dollar Tree)

Dawn Dish Detergent

Small Bowl or Bucket

Scrubby Pads

Absorbent Cloths

Squeegee

Steps

1. Place a few drops of Dawn in your container with a couple inches of water.

2. Dip the scrubby pad into the water and squeeze out.

3. Scrub the glass. The Dawn along with the scrubby gets the dirt off and does not leave a residue.

4. Squeegee the window, starting at the top and working down, wiping off the "blade" each time with a cloth.

5. Wipe around the edges to absorb any leftover water and dirt.

Who would have known this is all it takes to get professional results? Give it a try and see if you like the Washing Windows like The pros. http://chaoticallycreative.com/2012/03/16/wa...

I like this and am going to try the dish soap and squeegee. I knew a fellow years ago that had ...»
a car wash and he used dish detergent! He said nothing got grease and road residue off better! I am allergic to Dawn but I'll use another type - and I'll get my sunroom windows clean soon! Thanks for this great tip.... P.S. LOL - love Therese C pad idea!

  • A close up of the finished floor, it almost looks like old leather. 15
  • I did the whole 10 X 12 room for about $80, but any future room will cost about $30. That's cheap flooring! 11
  • Gluing the paper down using a 50% Elmers glue %50 water mixture. This part took forever. 10
  • Here is the paper going on, this is about 10 hours in (spread over multiple days). 6
  • Mopping on the stain. 6
  • After 12 coats of poly! I know people say this all the time, but it honestly look much better in real life. It just looks shiny in the pictures. 7

Paper Bag Floors

If you are in need of new flooring but don't have much money to spend (or even if you do) then this fits the bill! I created this floor out of brown paper, Elmers glue, stain and ...»
polyurethane. It was easy to do (albeit time consuming) and is very durable. This room is 10 X 12 and cost about $80, but future rooms will cost about $30 since I have plenty of leftover supplies. • Keep out the cold and the critters with a cover on your raised garden bend.
  • We used PVC pipe in 2 sizes, clamps and plastics sheeting.
  • We attached the plastic along one 8′ side with nails and a thin strip of wood. Pull plastic over supports and secure with heavy stones or large pieces of wood to prevent it from blowing off.

  • Here's the beginning of the path with the house in the background.
  • A close-up of the detailing on the stenciled paver. It took about 30 minutes to make four pavers.
  • I spaced them out about every foot leading toward the pond surrounded with mulch. 2
  • I used a simple damask stencil on a paver. You could also create a monogram or stripes....whatever works in your outdoor space.
  • Simply apply paint designed to work with concrete to the stencil. I used a stencil brush and dotted the paint to create the design.

  • Your list includes: pots 12' in diameter or larger, a used dryer sheet, potting soil, compost, slow release fertilizer {optional}, & tomatoes.
  • When selecting your plants, opt for a standard variety tomato. Patio/ container tomato varieties are not known for good flavor or texture!
  • Mix 3/4 potting soil to 1/4 fresh compost {either homemade or purchased at your local nursery} and toss in a handful of slow release fertilizer.
  • Cut a used dryer sheet and place over the drainage hole to prevent soil from being lost.
  • Pinch off the leaves of the plant up to the remaining top cluster. Trust me, it's okay!
  • Now plant the entire stem into your potting soil. The plant will grow roots along the stem, & that is a good thing! Water well & place in an area that gets 6-8 hours of sunlight. 1
