Painted cabinets vs. woodwork

If all the woodwork throughout my home is white-white, and I want to paint my cabinets slightly-off-white do I need to change the woodwork?

  • I wouldn't find the need to.

In my opinion, absolutely not. Some contrast and variation is good...and interesting. Otherwise, everything blends and looks the same. Just as it is okay to use different wood tones throughout your home, you can also successfully use different shades of white/off white.

My knee jerk reaction is to say absolutely not! The contrast will be interesting. I like mixing shades of white, off white, and cream. But just so I can really visualize it, I'm curious to know what color the walls are.

@ @LibrarianTellsAll The color is a light green (which I love!). I got a bit of the cabinets (as they are now) in the pic.

No problem. If you wanted, you can always have curtains or a piece with a white-white and off-white pattern to unify..

No that would look dirty or just dated/older than your white white woodwork. Pull some color tones from your back splash & go with maybe light on top & dark on bottom.
