I am going to change my garage door to faux finish
Where can I buy faux finish and what is better for the exterior: oil based or water based?

A faux finish isn't a product, it's a style, a method of painting to give a certain appearance. You will need a high quality exterior paint and that can be in either oil based or water based. No paint job will ever hold up well without a thorough cleaning of what's being painted. You have a lot of crevices on those doors, be sure the clean them well. I suggest you go to a paint store and ask a lot of questions before you begin.
