Denim Coasters

After updating a side table that we ruined by not using coasters the very next project was to make coasters so we didn't ruin the "new" table. I love denim and we have plenty of old worn out jeans around.
To start I gathered my supplies, denim, rotary cutter, scissors and hot glue.
To start cut all the seams off the jeans.
Then cut the denim into strips 1 inch strips.
Tie a know at the end of a strip. Make the knot as flat as possible because this will be the center of your coaster.
Holding onto the knot start twisting the denim strip. As you twist also wrap the twisted part around the knot. Glue as you go with a small dab of hot glue placed on the underside of the denim.
If one strip of denim doesn't get the desired size add another strip by making a hot glue seam. Then continue to twist and wrap and glue until you have the size you want.
Glue the end of the last strip to the underside of your coaster.
Follow the steps again to make a complete set. I made 4.
We now have a rule, no drinks without a coaster. I love my table and don't want to ruin it like we did before.

Did you use any backing? Condensation dripping down the side of a glass would get the denim wet, leaving a dreaded water stain if there was enough condensation to soak through the denim. They're adorable, just wondering about making sure there's a water barrier between the denim & tabletop. :)
