A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be asked by Hometalk & Modern Masters Paint if I would like to do a project using their paint. I actually had never heard of it but, I love trying new stuff! Well let me tell you, "THIS PAINT IS THE BOMB"! Very easy to use & makes you feel like an artist! I had been wanting to do some accents behind my bed, so I found these bi-fold doors at a restore, I also had a beautiful picture frame that I used also.
picture frame I was no longer using
The 1st step is to prime the doors with the Modern Masters paint primer, For this project I chose Modern Masters Metal Effects Paint with Blue Patina. I researched their website, www.modernmasters.com & they have a great selection of different types of paint that could bring out the artist in all of us.
I gave the doors & the frame two coats of primer, waiting about one-half hour between coats, I let that dry overnight.
After two coats of primer & drying overnight
Now for the real FUN, watching this turn into something you won't believe! ..The next morning I jumped into my work clothes & started with the next step, painting two coats of the bronze paint, this paint as I understand, has metal flakes in it, so that when you use the Blue Patina, it will start to oxides right before your eyes! I applied the first coat of bronze, waited about a half-hour & applied second coat. Now, this is really important...after applying a second coat & while still wet, time to spray with BLUE Patina!
After two coats of bronze
Right door starting to oxidize, Blue Patina !
If you ever thought watching paint dry was boring, NOT with this stuff! I got me a stool & a cold drink & sit back & watch the magic!
The Blue Patina comes with a spray nozzle, starting at the top of the door, spray a little as it starts to drip down, take a dry paint brush & lightly brush the drip mark's. Within minute's you'll start seeing the Blue Patina working!
With the picture frame, I painted frame & glass with the paint, when it was dry I flipped the glass around in the frame & the bronze & blue blended into a beautiful background for a metal piece I added later.
Hobby Lobby embellishment,
Embellishment glued to top of door
I glued the metal embellishment on with E6000 & let sit overnight, with two paint buckets setting on top.
Now for the big finish! Here's how it look's in our bedroom! I absolutely love this Modern Masters Paint, while doing my research, I also saw where someone painted plastic flower pots & they turned out like high-end planters! The possibilities are endless!
