Repurpose Old Cabinet Doors Into Bulletin Board and Chalk Board

We're redoing our kitchen island, and my husband built new cabinet doors. Instead of throwing out the old doors, I repurposed them into a DIY bulletin board and family message center to help the kids stay organized for school.
One of the old cabinet doors was worn, but still in good enough shape. The other door was completely cracked in the middle.
I removed the center of the old door and used spray paint, cork tiles and chalkboard paint to give both doors a complete makeover.
The old oak doors look so much better after being painted!
We hung the doors in our huge coat closet, right above the DIY coat hanger that we made for the kids to hang up their backpacks and coats. Now, it's so much easier for them to stay organized and remember things.

Swan Road Designs on Feb 10, 2015I did something similar when my children were small. They're all now in their 40s, so it's been a while. However, what I did was, was to paint the inside surface of one of the upper cabinet doors with chalkboard paint. That door was used to leave messages for each other. The object was to leave the door open as an alert that there was a message. Worked very well, especially in a home where 8 children were raised.
