I need ways to clean and hide nicks on trim boards and inside doors

I had the carpet replaced and my doors and trim are nicked.

About the only way is to fill the nicks with wood putty, let dry, then sand and touch up paint.

You didn't say if stained / painted & what you were trying to clean but TSP for cleaning is a painters favorite (careful not to get on the carpet) though in many cases just a damp rag might be enough. If it is glue - a razor blade is pretty good at scraping it off followed up by sanding Steps for P/S - lightly sand, use wood putty as mentioned above, lightly sand, wipe down - paint or stain as required
