Up Cycled Christmas Ornaments With Canning Jar Lids

Up cycled Canning Jar Lid Christmas Ornaments
As a farmer/florist I have more of my fair share of canning jar lids hanging around. I put my re-purposing cap on and came up with this fun and easy way to make Christmas ornaments ( or they could be used for your mason jar Christmas gifts )
I chose an urban barn theme for my center fabric to go with my Christmas Decor theme this year, but traditional Christmas fabric, scrapbook papers or lace or doilies would make a darling choice as well.
I purchased a Printed Burlap Stack with 4 different patterns to choose from. You'll need a dozen or so canning jar lids ( minus the centers ) a glue gun, twine, scissors, and any additional decorative elements you wish to add.
Before you measure and cut your circles out cut some lengths of twine at 10- 12 inches long. Tie a knot close to the lid then tie another knot at the top of the two ends to form a circle.
Place your lids on the backside of your fabric or paper and trace around the edges.
Cut out your circles just a bit inside the line so they'll fit nice and snug inside the circle when you glue them down.
Add 4 or 5 dots of hot glue on the FRONT SIDE of your fabric.
Carefully turn your fabric over front side down and press the edges firmly into the lid.
Add final touches such as ribbon or sparkles to the front of your lids. I added these Doily and Gemstone stickers from Martha Stewart's collection.
They are ready to hang! What are you doing do to re-purpose this Christmas?
