In my quest to help eliminate harmful chemicals throughout my house, I was able to eliminate another cleaner by creating my own version of steam cleaning the microwave. I love this easy project because it literally takes less than 2 minutes. It's a perfect project to quickly clean things up and another project.

      @RCooper @ thoughtsbyher.com It's what helps break up the grease and grime. Lemon is really good for that.

    I've been doing this for years, but without the oil. I use my microwave as a proofing box for making bread and, since I make all our bread products, the microwave gets "steamed" on a regular basis.

    i've been doing a bowl or cup of water for awhile, and i put a little dawn soap in it. then i use paper towels or dish rag. it makes life easier for me.

    Oh I need to do that! Ours is a little, ermmm, "mucky" might be the right word currently!

    I steam it by bringing water with some vinegar added to a boil and then letting it sit for a bit. Everything wipes off easily.
