How much does a kitchen remodel cost?

There's no easy answer to that question unfortunately! Think of these basic points that will greatly affect the cost of your remodel:
- Will the kitchen be enlarged and will plumbing have to be moved around? If so, this will require much more time and effort - which translates into more money spent!
- Will you do any of the work yourself to save money? Even if it's just tearing out the old kitchen or clearing up at the end you can save the amount of time contractors are in your home for.
- What quality materials do you want to use? Marble and hardwood floors are beautiful, but you will pay a high price for them! There are many lower cost, great looking materials available.
- Will you reface your appliances and cabinets or replace them altogether? Giving your appliances and cabinets a makeover with some new siding and a fresh coat of paint can make them look as good as new - and save you money!

Thanks Douglas - yes it's important to keep in mind that there are a lot more variables in the cost than simply using cheaper or more expensive materials!

The cheapest remodel I can do (my cost) is $3000 on Cabs plus about 700 to install, 3000 on granite (includes faucet and sink) 1500on tile, and about 3000 on some Appliances - then add paint and backsplash so 12-15 K for DIY
